I spent just a short time at Trinity Lutheran - only about eight months before I was called to my next bench. It was a small church in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia. An neighborhood of honest, hard-working, modest people - small houses lined the street. Many of my organist friends worked in and around the northeast section of Philadelphia. I remember this church always being full - never a bad attendance Sunday. They had a small pipe organ, I'm afraid that I don't remember the maker of the instrument. The pipes were in a chamber to the left of the organist in a very, very small balcony. The choir of about six people sat around the organ. The organ chamber let the sound out directly at the choir and organist sitting in the balcony. This console had no pre-set functions, so the organist had to throw the stops by handat the beginning of every piece to be played. I gave one concert on this organ and I remember doing a very packed Christmas eve service during my tenure.

Trinity is no longer in operation and sadly, I don't know what happened in the end.
